This mess is actually a 2015 vehicle that was just picked up from a body shop in Seattle 1 hour prior to arriving w me. She was charged for new axles and from the mess it is obvious their tech missed some important parts when fixing. So sad to be the one to tell her it needs to go back to the body shop that has it for 3 months. I of course could fix it for her but she would have had to pay twice. So sad.
Monday, March 14, 2016

Wednesday, March 9, 2016
So a slow leak in your transmission will give u results like this Chev Impala. The entire inside was burnt black. These parts r supposed to be silver! Then the front engine mount was collapsed having the axle sit on the frame. So yes the axle and mount need replaced too! Ouch on this repair!
Thursday, March 3, 2016
Today is a fun one. 3 transmissions are going back together but 1 new one Just came in. A Mercedes CL65 that burned the transmission the best I have seen in along time!
Wednesday, March 2, 2016
This Mitsubishi transmission had a torque converter shutter. From the wear on the input u can see the damage it would cause to gears slipping trying to grab. Never fear we will get it all put back together.
Monday, February 29, 2016
Monday is already off and running. 3 transmissions to remove and 1 ready to go back in!
Wednesday, February 24, 2016
This is what happens to your transmission when either your don't notice a leak or think it is no big deal. Your transmission gets so hot your torque converter and 4th gear blue because they got so hot.
This probably started as a rear main seal leak that progressed to much worse
Wednesday, February 24, 2016
Check this one out! Rear drum out of a Tahoe . Seriously awesome when you find the obvious!
We are insanely busy this week. We are Trying so hard to get all these vehicles back to our customers. So many inside and twice as many outside. Even had to bring Mike in from retirement to help!

So this is a good one! An Infiniti M35 had a bad ujoint on the front driveline. Hard to tell the path of destruction but once it broke, the driveline went rouge and the front differential was broke along with the oil pan and the bellhousing for the transmission. Almost ruined the block.
What did we learn? When your shop tells you that you need your ujoints replaced on your vehicle it will be much cheaper to do it at THAT time then wait!
Wednesday, February 10, 2016
One very happy customer today. He called for an estimate on a clutch repair for his truck. Brought his truck in for the repair, rented a car and was expecting to pick it up today. Upon diagnosis we found it was just extremely low on fluid. Topped off the fluid and test drove. Clutch worked fine. We called the client and explained we just did not need to do the repair and his vehicle was ready for pick up. At no charge. He was extremely happy and satisfied stating we could have replaced it and charged him without telling him the truth. That is not how we do things here. Thank you Mr Customer for the nice things you said about all of us here at Mike's Transmission.
So this week has been a fun one. Can any of u guess what this transmission is?
Wednesday, February 3, 2016
#1 spot for "the craziest" for 2016 so far is this Honda Ridgeline with the rear differential having a huge hole in the bottom.
Now your initial thought is obviously client has run something over. However client does not remember doing that.
End result is entire unit had to be replaced!
Great sunny Monday here in the Seattle area today! We are finishing up some other transmissions this week. One being a Volvo. Tons of work on that one! A lot that has to be removed! Also just did a service and a rear differential service. Both had metal debris. Remember...don't go 130k miles before you service either of these! Give yourself more life with your vehicles and service all the items that take oil or gear lube! Preventative trick of the trade!

Nice Christmas celebration at the Greater Issaquah Chamber Christmas gathering. Enjoyed a glass or two with Dorian Garson - Owner/Operator of Fabato and Sandy Kovalak - Outreach Manager for Way of Life Wellness Center!
2015 we helped so many people get back on the road. Still amazing how all these moving parts inside a transmission work and how we don't give it a 2nd thought. To avoid costly repairs do your transmission service when it is due. If you have over 75k for miles u need to start doing this service every 30k. Once at 150k or more do it every 20k. The older these moving parts get the harder they are working and will wear down the fluid.
Monday, January 11, 2016
It's a busy start to the week for us here at Mike's. Even Mike has come in to help from retirement . Thank you Mike.

It has been entertaining to say the least this last week of 2015 here. Take a look and see for yourself. From a giant F350 transmission, to a little 1.8 VW. Then a transfer case from a Durango . Awesome paint job on one and to top it all off....a wood gear shift! Happy New Year everyone!

Monday, December 14, 2015
So while driving down the freeway at 80mph and your transfer case breaks this is how it is delivered when the wheels will no longer turn. Glad the owner is ok. Now to open her up and see what other things she needs.
Tuesday, December 8, 2015
Today is a Ford day. This expedition will find its way back on the road after we put the puzzle back together. Then into 2 explorers. Best practice is say yes to a transmission service when due. It will help prevent this extra expense!
Wow! Only 1.5 cups of syrup fluid left in this transmission. Do u see how thick the fluid is? Only a slight slip they say.....
Thursday, December 3, 2015

When mother nature blows the trees sideways and the power out, there is nothing we can do but wait. 2.5 hours with no power in the shop and all the cars in the air.....all we can do is wait. Now it is back on and we are back to work. Fingers crossed it stays on the rest of the day!
Thursday, November 12, 2015
Even in the transmission business we are still confused to why the design to cool a transmission come from the radiator. When coolant leaks into a transmission it WILL fail. Fluid becomes like milk and delaminates the steels . Causing transmission failure. Keep an eye on your cooling system. Don't park your cars over curbs as your cooling line are mostly in the bumpers. When u back up and scrape the bumper u are loosening the cooler lines.
Tuesday, November 10, 2015
Today we had a low mileage Saturn that came in w hard shift issue and solenoid codes. Upon further inspection it was decided a rebuild was needed. When the case was removed gears fell out...broke. Mike's transmission to the rescue!

Today we are rebuilding a 2004 dodge ram 2500 that shuttered in higher gears and had not reverse. After opening the transmission we found in the overdrive section about 2 inches left of a snap ring holding back about 800 lbs of pressure in gears. Like an explosive spring, we carefully put this on the press to hold the pressure while we removed it. Whew! Can you imagine this exploding while driving?
Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Wednesday, September 9, 2015
This gorgeous piece of metal is a 94 Toyota SR5 rebuild.
Wednesday, September 2, 2015
Warm and fuzzy today at Mike's transmission. Ok maybe just fuzzy w this that we found in the pan of a vehicle. This is the sign of your transmission breaking inside! This is all metal attached to the magnet in the pan!
We have a great 1969 Chev chevelle here that the front bearing retainer broke. Like a champ it still runs but for how long w a break like this? So of course we ordered parts and will get this back on the road soon!
When you hear a rattling noise when in 4 hi maybe just maybe your axle has come loose from the front diff and maybe just maybe the axle has broke. Best cure. Inspect the diff. Do a service and install a new axle. Then add some locking nuts to the bolts so they will never back off ! Mike's transmission to the rescue !
Tuesday, August 11, 2015

One of today's ventures is a Mercedes 722.9 transmission. So many parts and gears. This is just some of the parts. The builder is putting the rest in the cleaner.
Friday, July 17, 2015
